Todd has worked in three fire and rescue services since 1998, joining Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) in 2004. During his time in the fire services, he has fulfilled the roles of retained firefighter, as well as wholetime firefighter, crew and watch manager.
In December 2020 Todd joined the GMFRS fire investigation team attaining his SFJ Level 5 Certificate in Fire Investigation with Gardiners Associates Training and Research (GATR) in March 2022. During this time, he has been the primary investigator at may significant and complex scenes, working closely with partner and third-party agencies, having provided witness reports and attended both Coroners and Criminal Courts to present his evidence.
Todd is currently writing and developing GMFRS’s internal fire investigation training packages to complement and maintain the skills attained by way of the SFJ Level 2 Introduction to fire investigation qualification, currently provided to all crew and watch managers.
