David was previously an employee of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service for over 29 years and, until recently, the National Fire Investigation Accreditation Technical Lead with the Forensic Capability Network assisting public sector organisations with the attainment of accreditation to ISO 17020: 2012 for their Fire Investigation Activities.

David has been a Tier 2 Fire Scene Investigator since 2003 and for the last 5 years of his service was the Fire Investigation Team Manager. In that time, he introduced working practices and a quality management system as part of his fire investigation unit’s progress towards accreditation.

He is a qualified NVQ Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer (IQA). NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health qualified; Holds a Master’s Degree in Fire Investigation, Skills for Justice Level 5 Certificate and the BTEC Level 7 Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence; Is a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, an Engineering Technician (EngTech) registrant with the Engineering Council, Member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, Member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Professional Member of the UK Association of Fire Investigators (MFireInv) and a Member of the European Association of Fire Investigators; He is the President of the UK Association of Fire Investigators. He has been the recipient of a Chief Constable’s and Police and Crime Commissioner’s Award for his contributions to Fire Investigations.

David is Managing Director of One33 Limited, providing Training, Assessment, Inspection and Consultancy Services. He is married and currently resides near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire; interests include horse-riding, his dogs, Leicester Tigers, good food and red wine.
