Dyson DC05 Motorhead - Safety Notice

This safety notice applies to the Dyson DCO5 Motorhead product only, sold between 2000-2005. No other DCO5 product is affected.

In rare instances the clip on DCO5 Motorhead wand handles (1) has been found to crack and this can cause the hose to become detached resulting in electrical connections being exposed (2).

If these connections are touched while the machine is plugged in, there is a risk of electrical shock and/or burn.

We therefore ask DCO5 Motorhead owners to take the following precautionary measures:

Unplug your machine.
If the hose is detached or loose, do not touch the exposed electrical connectors or operate the machine. Contact Dyson immediately, by calling 0800 954 0151.
If the hose is firmly attached, there is no immediate risk. Your vacuum cleaner remains safe to use. However, as a precautionary measure Dyson will be issuing a reinforcing cuff to all DC05 Motorhead owners to prevent hose detachment. If you’d rather purchase a new Dyson vacuum cleaner, you can do so at a discounted price.
