IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR USERS OF THE IBM L4OSX
IBM RECALLS L4OSX LAPTOP COMPUTER
IBM has become aware of a situation in which a very small number of IBM Personal System/2 (PS/2) L4OSX Laptop computers generate excessive heat. No personal injuries have been reported. Although the possibility of this situation occurring is extremely remote, IBM is taking the extra precaution of offering its customers the highest level of service by voluntarily recalling and modifying all L4OSXs.
IBM is notifying customers and dealers worldwide; within 30 days customers will receive more detailed instructions from their dealers about the process for returning their systems. For additional information, customers can contact IBM directly by calling (0256) 841818.
In the interim, IBM recommends that all customers with an L4OSX laptop remove the unit's battery and only use the computer on its AC adapter; the AC adapter should be disconnected when unattended. No other IBM portable computers are affected by this recall.
