Mike Broadley served 12 years in the RAF Fire & Rescue Service and was stationed in Norfolk, Hampshire, and Lincolnshire. During this time Mike served in the Falklands as well as completing three tours of duty in Afghanistan in the role of Watch Officer with the bolt on of fire investigator. After completing his training with Gardner Associates, Mike shadowed both Fire Investigation teams in Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the West Midlands Fire Service.

In December 2014 Mike transferred joined Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service Where he was based at Hindley in Wigan and Watch Manager at Bolton North before taking up a full-time post with the fire scene investigation team. In 2015 Mike graduated from Teesside University after taking a degree in fire scene investigation.

Mike has investigated a wide range of incidents from house explosions, suicides and arson attacks to the murder of four children in Salford and the Christies Hospital fire.

After a short period as the UK-AFI North West rep Mike was keen to get other reps actively involved by holding local level training events and by increasing the membership of the UK-AFI.

Mike also represents the UK Fire Service in ice hockey sporting the number 28 where he plays in defense.
