Dremel has decided to recall various Dremel ScrollStation 1800 electric scroll saws as a precautionary measure.

Affected products have the type number F013180045, the model number 1800 and a UK power plug (3-pin). The tools were sold between November 1, 2006 and February 28, 2007. Information regarding the model number can be found on the black metal plate to the rear of the tool. No other Dremel products are affected.

Do not connect the product to the mains supply, as electricity may he conducted through the tool housing, resulting in electrocution. If the affected tool is already connected to the mains supply proceed immediately to remove the plug from the mains supply without touching the tool itself.

During recent testing, it was discovered that there may be a potential wiring fault within the plug. This fault may result in electricity being conducted through the tool housing, with the associated risk of electrocution.

If you own an affected ScrollStation 1800 you should stop using the tool immediately and contact Dremel for further instructions. Dremel has set up a freephone number for all users concerned:

Users should proceed with caution and under no circumstances connect the plug to any mains supply. It you have already used the tool and have not experienced any problems, Dremel nevertheless asks you to contact the Dremel Hotline. Dremel will collect the affected tool and replace it with a new tool.
